Best keywords for pest control companies, sorted by pest and by buyer

The keywords for pest control that earn a route stop are not one list. They fall into a handful of groups, and each group points at a different kind of call. This page sorts the searches we pulled into those groups and shows search volume as a route length instead of a promise.

How the pest control keyword list was pulled and read

We pulled 634 distinct searches from four seed phrases: pest control, termite control, bed bug treatment and rodent control. The largest block is word-order twins of pest control itself, followed by near-me forms and then the pest-by-pest phrases. Those are the keywords for pest control that decide how a campaign is built, so the tables below keep them grouped by the pest named in the search.

Volume is printed as a route length. Cross-county phrases draw the largest monthly search volume, across town ones the next band, same neighborhood ones a steady few thousand, and next door ones are the small phrases that still bring a call or two. Length says how many people type it, never how many calls a company will get. Each table also notes what the caller is after, because two phrases of equal length can ask for different things.

Three kinds of search are left out of every table on purpose. National company and franchise names top the raw pull and are never worth bidding on or writing for. Searches about marks left on skin are medical questions, and so are the price and cost phrases that sit among the biggest groups: the owner decides what to say about those, and the marketing waits for that wording. See the pest control SEO page for how the groups turn into pages.

Four snags a household hits, and the page that should be waiting

Start here. Each row is a thing a person has just run into, the words they tend to type about it and the page a pest control company needs standing for that moment.

Company and near-me searches: the widest door

These are the phrases of someone who already knows they want a company and has not chosen one. They are also the phrases that the Google Maps pack answers, so a Business Profile does more here than a page does.

Roaches and other pantry pests

The biggest single pest in the pull. People type the pest first and the word company later, so a company page named for the pest carries these.

Phrases a pest control campaign should screen out before paying for clicks

These look like pest control searches and are not. Putting them on the negative list from the first day keeps ad spend on the callers who might book a visit.

Reading where a caller stands on the round

The same pest can be typed at four different moments. The wording gives the moment away, and the moment decides what the ad group and the page should do.

Noticed a problem, not yet worriedA pest name plus a question wordNothing paid yet; the pest page on the site does the work

Turning these keywords for pest control into pages and ad groups

One page per group is a start, and one page per pest within a group is better. The roach and ant rows want separate pages because the callers want to see the pest named, and the near-me rows want a strong Google Business Profile more than a page. The termite rows deserve their own section because renewals make those households worth more over a year than a single call.

For paid work, the near-me and company phrases are the natural first ad groups, with the screen-out table loaded as a negative list on day one. The Google Ads page shows how the groups map to campaigns. A thin month in the call board is the moment to rerun the pull, because the pests people type shift with the season, and every owner knows their own pattern.

Questions about keywords for pest control and this list

Why does this list not print search numbers?

A raw number invites a forecast, and nobody can forecast the calls a phrase will bring. A route length shows the relative size of a phrase and leaves the promise out.

Why are company names missing from the pest control keyword tables?

Searches that name a national company are people looking for that company. A local business cannot win those clicks and should not pay for them, so they sit outside every table here.

How often should the list for a pest control company be pulled again?

Once a quarter is a sensible rhythm for the round, and again when a new branch, a new town or a new pest line joins the route sheet.

Do these keywords for pest control change by town?

The wording stays much the same, and the volume does not. A town page repeats the pest phrases beside the town name, which is how the same group serves each stop on the route.

Want the keyword groups laid over your own route sheet?

Tell us the pests and towns that matter most and we will sort the groups against them. Nothing about an actual customer or address should go into the form; marketing questions are what it is for.

Which pests and towns should ring the phone more?

Say which pests you take calls on, where the trucks already run and where the route sheet has gaps. Rough notes work. Details about a real household or commercial account have no place here, because this is a talk about marketing and never a service request.
